To let go of your vanity is perhaps an actor’s greatest challenge. Especially in today’s day and age when celebrities and actors have to feed the social media monster constantly, it must be a difficult balance to play the character and his/her situation and, at the same time, be able to sustain your real-world image. As glib as it may sound, this is the new world social media crazed world we live in. It requires dedication to stay true to your actual craft of acting.
Thankfully, it seems that Zubab Rana has plenty of it. In Fitrat, she plays the rather unglamorized role of Rafia. This doesn’t mean she doesn’t look beautiful. But it isn’t the typical beauty standard you see on TV. This woman is hardworking, simple, honest, and has an unwavering sense of self. Her beauty is in her simplicity and lack of extravagance.
Opposite of everything her sister (Saboor Ali) stands for, who sees everything as a transaction. What’s in it for me, she considers before making any move. How can I turn this situation to be my benefit? She is willing to lie openly or manipulate the truth as she pleases. The writer is in some ways showing a contrast b/w two women from the same household. How their relationships evolve within and outside their immediate families. At least in the short term, things seem simpler for the person taking the short cuts. We are loving how Zubab Rana has tackled this character so far, and we are looking forward to seeing what she would bring next
